  1. 1. Late modernism operated after modernism had begun to take damage in the court of public opinion. Un sure of its position , between high modernism and postmodernism , late modernism is an uncomfortable period. Late modernism attempted to find ways of practicing in an era in which innovation had seemingly come to end .
