Acute gastritis refers to inflammation of the
gastric mucosa.

Causes

NSAIDs/aspirin
H. pylori infection
Alcohol, heavy cigarette
smoking, or caffeine
Extreme physiologic stress
(e.g., shock, sepsis, burns).

CLINICAL FEATURES

The relationship between eating
and pain is not consistent (i.e.,
food may either aggravate or
relieve the pain).
Clinical features
Asymptomatic Epigastric pain
But may cause dyspepsia,
anorexia, nausea or vomiting,
and hematemesis or melena.
