  5. 5. The diode <ul><li>LED (Light-Emitting Diode) produces light on the level of atoms, emitting energy in the form of photons (electroluminescence). It needs low voltage and its energy consumption is low; it is easily and effectively adjustable, fast to switch, small, robust and durable. </li></ul>

  9. 9. <ul><li>During production, chips of different qualities are manufactured. For constant quality, diodes must be sorted with regard to forward voltage, light flow, and colour temperature. The price of sorted LEDs may even be threefold compared with LEDs that are not sorted. </li></ul><ul><li>Laboratory measurements as well as ageing tests have clearly proved the experimental fact that lighting units with LED have four equally important parts. Reliable equipment that meets the requirements can only be manufactured if optimal operation of all the four parts is provided, no compromise may be allowed for any part. </li></ul><ul><li>The installation of LEDs with the best light efficacy and the adequate technical parameters into the lighting unit is not at all an obvious and simple task. The best lighting technical solution with LED presently available at HungaroLux Light has been resulted by a continuous, nine-year development. </li></ul><ul><li>Most products available in trade include technical compromises that should not be allowed and/or provide non-real data, or their luminance or colour temperature is not adequate. </li></ul>
  10. 10. <ul><li>The developments implemented since 2000 have been recognised by the Hungarian State as well, and under the umbrella of the National Technological Programme of the National Office for Research and Technology (NKHT), as a member of KÖZLED consortium we have won a support of 1.6 million EURs for the development of equipment with LED technology. Within the framework of the consortium we could also use the electro-technical laboratory of the Budapest University of Technology, and the optical laboratory of the Pannon University of Veszprém. </li></ul><ul><li>The special laboratory measurements in the two universities were compared with the manufacturer data sheets, which clearly showed that only a few manufacturers meet the set criteria system. </li></ul><ul><li>After forming a specially designed cooling surface, fitting to the selected LEDs, and checked by measurements, with the precise heat technical parameters known, the electronic parts were developed. During their implementation we took only two aspects into consideration: reliability and durability. Furthermore, the solution for automated, smart luminance control was also implemented, which provides further considerable saving compared with traditional systems. </li></ul><ul><li>As a result of the above processes Hungarolux Light equipment can be characterised by an actual 70,000-hour lifetime, and a significant 80-110 lm/W light efficacy – only a few products in commercial distribution have the same qualities. </li></ul>
