Why LearnFest - People Leader Insights? <ul><li>In Personal Bank we recently completed an analysis to understand the root causes of the capability gaps that are across Personal Banking, through which we identified some key organisational ‘levers’ (e.g. collaboration) that would help to address these gaps. The outcome of this process led to the creation of our Personal Banking Capability Strategy (see picture insert). </li></ul><ul><li>LearnFest – People Leader Insights, is designed to further explore the issues identified around: </li></ul><ul><li>the management of our people, and </li></ul><ul><li>provide insights to our people leaders on how they can best help their people to improve their capability. </li></ul>Overall Goal of People Management Capability Stream: “ We provide people leaders with clear role expectations and help them fulfil their critical role in developing our people.” <ul><li>Aims of strategy: </li></ul><ul><li>Improve people leaders ability to identify capability gaps & plan interventions, coach their people pre/post training and recruit the right people. </li></ul><ul><li>Improve the overall level and effectiveness of people leader coaching. </li></ul><ul><li>Improve role clarity of our people leaders. </li></ul>‘ Improve people management’ capability stream Personal Banking Capability Strategy

LearnFest - People Leader Insights The Experience <ul><li>Objectives of Learn Fest : </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Test some thinking and new approaches for developing people leaders at nab </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Gather insights on helping to build our people’s capability </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Help our people leaders to better develop their people and themselves </li></ul></ul>“ Find the good – and praise it” Alex Haley Pre Event: Learning discovery via ‘LearnFest – People Leader Insights’ portal, including video’s and other pre reading. LearnFest Event: Combination of learning from insights, discussions and providing feedback on key challenges faced in leader led development of our people. Post Event: Download of content from LearnFest portal, ‘action learning’ experiments to take away and utilise with your team, volunteer to be part of groups to support solution development focus groups. LearnFest – The Experience:

LearnFest: Map Today’s world of learning – The Academy Booth Tweets (Screens) Commitment Box Exit Exit Experience – 70% Engagement Development Planning Coaching – 20% Role Clarity Measurement Auditorium - Docklands Role Clarity: What are our people management tasks? How do we know what they are? How do we do these tasks more consistently? Development Planning: Understand how to better identify development needs and support you & your people build a better Development Plan. Engagement: Share your stories on engaging people and explore other ways to build your team’s engagement. Experience – 70%: 70% of how we learn is on the job learning. Help make the most of this type of learning for both you and your team. Measurement: What are the inputs for good people management? How do we measure that? Come and explore this challenge and help shape a solution. Coaching – 20%: Experience an activity you can run with your team to clear your obstacles to having regular, worthwhile coaching sessions. Helpful tips to make the most of your LearnFest – People Leader Insights experience: Encourage others to attend the event and read the blogged thoughts for the day in the LearnFest – People Leader Insights Group. If you are attending virtually, feel free to join the discussion – remember the ‘paper tweets’ will be entered randomly against each of the experience zones. The discussion threads will jump around a lot because a few bloggers will be capturing the ‘paper tweets’ of about 60+ people. Attending the event virtually – via Yammer Do you know what The Academy has to offer? Come and explore more of what the Academy has to offer in the break, pre and post the event. Today’s worlds of learning Act now! What would you like to work on to grow your leadership capability? Write down your commitment on the postcard and drop it to the “Commitments Box” before leaving us today. Postcards <ul><li>On arrival you will be given a post-it note pad and a pen. Your duty for the day is to write *at least* one ‘paper tweet, after each experience you visit. Tips for ‘paper tweeting’: </li></ul><ul><li>Write one or more of the following things: What did you learn? What action are you going to take away? What have you observed? How do you feel right now? </li></ul><ul><li>Keep is short and to the point </li></ul><ul><li>Make one point per Tweet – if you have more than one point, use another note </li></ul><ul><li>Post the Tweets in the designated spots after you write each one </li></ul><ul><li>Put your name your tweet, so you can get the most out of your experience by referring back to your tweets later </li></ul><ul><li>Your Tweet’s will be fed into our LIVE Yammer feed and projected on the screen for you to read between sessions and for others not present at the event to join the conversation! </li></ul>Tweet as you go Pick 5 of the 6 ‘Experience zones’ to visit. Each experience offers a 25 minute interactive discussion and activity. When you hear the music, its time to move on to another experience. You may decide before the event which zone to visit, or read the Tweets on the day to help you decide which one you may go to next. ‘ Experience zones’ Visit the LearnFest – People Leader Insights Portal and watch the video’s. Accept the invite to join the Yammer , ‘ LearnFest – People Leader Insights ’ group. Pre-event

A few things to remember: <ul><ul><li>Get the most out of your experience by contributing often and embracing the different interaction experiences (e.g. ‘Paper Tweets’, LearnFest portal) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Write your name on your paper tweets so you can have a log of them when you return to your desk (via Yammer) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Share your experience with your team and peers </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Follow up after the event by sticking to your commitment and having a go at least one of the post event ‘action learning’ activities. </li></ul></ul>
