Presentation1

 1. 1. CD cover collage and analysis

Most of the CD covers I have chosen here rely mostly on the pictures. This is more to do with the photographic quality of the pictures.

One or two have used other effects apart from photography, the small blue one on the left has added colour and tinted the background, which makes the singer standout and appear more dominate.

The cover on the bottom far right, has also used colour but this time the colour is streaking out from the singers centre mass, giving the effect of radiance, almost as if the singer is shinning like a star.

 2. 2. CD cover collage and analysis

The top centre image is a montage of different images all with a particular theme in mind, the artist. The orange tint and contrast shading give the image depth and warmth.

Also the angle at which the picture used was taken, looking back over the shoulder, shows attitude consistent with the street image.

Another effect I like is the two covers that use black & white, greyscale. Showing all the soft tones of the skin, it makes them look and feel softer, more sensitive or personal which could link to the type of music on the CD’s.

 3. 3. CD cover collage and analysis

All of the covers I have selected show the artist on their CD’s and all of the CD’s I have chosen are of single artists. The covers all show the singers independence and individuality.

 4. 4. CD cover collage and analysis

Most of the CD covers I have chosen here have aspects of collage or layering. I love the use of colours and bold text.

Two or three rely total on other images and text, having no main, dominate image of the artist on the cover.

The top central image shows a cartoon like graphics of space, using bright and vivid colours to attract the viewers attention. Gives the artist a childlike and playful demeanour.

 5. 5. CD cover collage and analysis

Even though each CD cover is part of a different genre of music, they have all used this technique of layering and collage different images together.

I love how, contrast to the other CD covers here, the Oasis cover has chosen to use only bold blacks and whites, giving the cover an old school look.
