Ancillary task film review analysis - Pirates Of The Caribbean

  1. 1. FILM REVIEW ANALYSIS: PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLDS END Writing The review starts with a film rating and a tagline. The first two words of the revieware slightly bigger, capitalized and a different colour. The first paragraph is written in bold so that it stands out against the rest of the article. Throughout the beginning of the article, the film is compared to the way other films were written. The review then goes on to talk about the plot of the film and mentions a few of the characters/actors and how they fit into the story. At the end of the review, the film is summed up in just a few sentences (written in bold, capitalized text). The very end of the review gives you the institutional information. Layout The review takes up one full page with a still image from the film taking up the whole of another. The use of a full page for the image means that it catches the reader’s attention. In the middle of the page there is a graph showing the ‘predicted interest’ in the film. Three quarters of the way down the first column, there is a box with a statement about the film. In the top right hand corner of the image it tells you a little bit about the scene from which the image has been taken. On the right hand side of the image, the magazine suggests three films that fans of ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ may enjoy.
