STATISTICS ON THE BENEFITS OF GETTING INVOLVED IN HIGH SCHOOL THESE ARE PERCENTAGES*U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics, NationalEducation Longitudinal Study, Second Follow-up, 1992.
QUOTES FROM TEACHERS “If students truly want to have a full experience, stretch themselves as people, challenge themselves in ways they never have before, or simply make life-long friends, then they need to be involved in our school. Everyone can go to class everyday, go home after school, and never change anything. But they would be robbing themselves of a truly great experience. Our school offers a wide variety of activities in which students can explore. As a great texter once texted, "YOLO."” -----Daniel Ching
HERE’S ANOTHER...“ACTIVITIES SUPPORT THE ACADEMIC MISSION OF SCHOOLS. They arenot a diversion, but rather an extension of a good educational program. Studentswho participate in activity programs tend to have higher grade-point averages, better attendance records, lower dropout rates and fewer discipline problems thanstudents generally.ACTIVITIES ARE INHERENTLY EDUCATIONAL. Activity programs providevaluable lessons for many practical situations. Through participation in activityprograms, students learn teamwork, sportsmanship, winning and losing, therewards of hard work, self-discipline, build self-confidence, and develop skills tohandle competitive situations. These are qualities the public expects schools toproduce in students so they become responsible adults and productive citizens.ACTIVITIES FOSTER SUCCESS IN LATER LIFE. Participation in highschool activities is often a predictor of later success - in college, a career, andbecoming a contributing member of society.”----- Chelsea Geraci-Milliorn
