  2. 2. - We are living in the information age (Alvin Toffler) - The information age is computer science - this implies new ways of perceiving (perception), cognizing ( cognition) , sensing ( sensation) the environment in which we live. This implies sciences which can enable us understand and explain behaviour ( machines and man)
  3. 3.  Psychology is a science that studies behaviour and mental processes of humans and animals.  Everything behaves but human behaviour is particular ( observable and inobservable behaviour).  Psychology is not common sense . Distinction between implicit psychology and explicit psychology.  A psychologist cannot know how people behave if he/she does not have a scientific background.  Psychology is everywhere in our day to day lives
  4. 4.  All the branches of psychology study an aspect of behaviour.  Examples of this subdisciplines relevant to computer sciences are cognitive psychology , cyber psychology, clinical psychology , psychopathology, developmental psychology ,consumer psychology.  Each branch of psychology can enable the IT professional to understand , explain , predict human behaviour.
