ABSTRACTS TERRY PROSSER - “BETWEEN THE LINES” ‘Finding meaning through context‘ The ‘Face 2 Face‘ presentation looks at useful ways of creating interestand motivation in General English classes through articles, pictures and videofrom the internet to supplement ELT coursebooks. It also identifies how wecan present grammar inductively in a helpful and contextualised way so thatstudents see things for themselves, see meaning beyond the form and alsouse it in a personalized and natural way. The presentation is accompanied byhandouts and sections of the Face 2 Face series from Cambridge UniversityPress.

TERRY PROSSER - “LOST FOR WORDS” ‘Introducing, reviewing and enriching vocabulary‘EFL students often find it difficult to progress beyon d the intermediateplateau, lost for words or communicating with the same vocabulary theylearned at lower levels. So why is this? This talk highlights some typicaldifficulties and offers ideas to help increase learners‘ lexis, to improvereading ability and also express themselves in a more fluent and confidentway. The presentation will also look at ways to practising and reviewingvocabulary through a series of enjoyable, learner-centred and motivatingactivities, and I’ll also provide a list of helpful suggestions and links touseful digital resources.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS TERRY PROSSER: I have been a teacher and teacher trainer for over 15 years and Ive worked in England, the Czech Republic, Spain, Germany and the United Arab Emirates. I have a BA in Philosophy, Literature and French, a CELTA, a Higher Trinity Diploma in TESOL, as well as a Post-Graduate Teaching Diploma and an MA in TESOL. I am aninternational conference presenter and product champion for Cambridge UniversityPress, an exam editor for CERMAT and Im also a book reviewer for Modern EnglishTeacher (MET). Trained as a language inspector and a mentor, Anca-Mariana Pegulescu has a PhD in contrastive linguistics at the University of Bucharest. In 2007 she was a Visiting Fellow at the University of Southampton, UK, where she got a Certificate in Language Teacher Educationand completed the translation in Romanian of the European Profile forLanguage Teacher Education and the European Portofolio for StudentTeachers of Languages.The first document was analysed within the EuropeanNetwork of Language Inspectors where Mrs.Pegulescu represented Romania.In 2008 she attended the International Visitors Program - Washington -Teaching English as a Second Language. Along the years Mrs. Pegulescu hasbeen involved in language and professional development projects.In 2009 shehas been delegated to coordinate the project English Profile within thepartnership between the Romanian Ministry of Education and the Universityof Cambridge. Mrs. Pegulescu taught at the preuniversity level - bilingualand intensive classes and is still teaching student (teachers) of languages atthe University of Craiova.
