Introduction <ul><li>Internet has been a very popular media for political activities </li></ul><ul><li>They also can comment their views and share the news that they find online. </li></ul><ul><li>American Presidential Election </li></ul><ul><li>use of internet and web based technologies at Presidential Election 2010 </li></ul>

Methodology <ul><li>Identify the list of candidates nominated for the forth coming presidential Election(See Appendix 01)   </li></ul><ul><li>Evaluate their content, presentation, other features and effectiveness in achieving their desired objectives through their official Universal Resource Locater (URL) and web 2.0 Technology. (See Appendix 02)  </li></ul><ul><li>Related Evaluation of Web 2.0 Tools (Wikipedia, Face book, U Tube, linked In, PiPl)   </li></ul><ul><li>Rank them accordingly (See Appendix 03) </li></ul>

  4. 5. Recommendation <ul><li>Identification of the target audience must be improved </li></ul><ul><li>specially candidates did not consider the convenience use of Language </li></ul><ul><li>The use of effective web-based Campaign awareness should be improved </li></ul><ul><li>  </li></ul>

Continued <ul><li>URL must be designed to cope with existing Technology </li></ul><ul><li>(In Sri Lanka, We do not have high speed internet facility and Brand With is very low)  </li></ul><ul><li>The importance of two way communication flow did not address by most of candidates and it should be improved E.g. In giving Instant feedback to the users   </li></ul>
  6. 7. Continued <ul><li>The mechanism of getting adequate funding has not been considerate to their demands, only very few did and it should be improved.  </li></ul><ul><li>Browser Compatibleness of their URL has not been properly addressed E.g. Opera   </li></ul>

Conclusion <ul><li>Internet & web 2.0 technologies are powerful tools in presidential campaigning </li></ul><ul><li>Citizens are embracing Internet to connect to political process. </li></ul><ul><li>person’s motivation ,more politically active. </li></ul><ul><li>In Sri Lanka, Candidates fail to recognize power of Internet will be moderately affected. </li></ul><ul><li>innovative, informative, interactive, and a creative tool used , Presidential campaigning. </li></ul><ul><li>Internet is a low-cost medium ,allows two-way communication </li></ul>
