Face off

  1. 1. Face-off
  2. 2. The idea 1. Set a question • To what extent does renewable energy provide the potential for sustainable energy supply and consumption? (15 marks)
  3. 3. 2. Give each pair of students a possible answer. One student produces the positive argument. The other student identifies questions. (Predict what they are going to say and identify a question to counter it – differentiation). ‘Wind power is sustainable as wind is naturally formed (renewable)’ ‘How many wind turbines are needed to produce the same amount of power as a current power station?’
  4. 4. 3. The 2 students then do the ‘faceoff’. The class then decide on the winner! The outcome: Students put forward balanced arguments when answering the question.
  5. 5. A step further… • Once all students have done their face-off. You can prioritise the answers. • Which renewable energy has the MOST potential for providing sustainable energy supply?
