1.3 power supply

 1. 1. A+ Hardware
Section 1.3 Computer Power
Made By : Gagandeep Singh
2. 2. What you learn today
CompTIA A+ 220-701 , Section 1.3
Classify power supply types and characteristics.
- AC adapter.
- ATX proprietary.
- Voltage, wattage and capacity.
- Voltage selector switch
- Pins (20,24)
3. 3. Amp and Volt
Ampere ( amp, A) – The rate of electron flows past a point in one second.
- 1 Amp = 6.242 * 10 power 18 electrons per seconds.
Voltage( volt, V) - Electrical “pressure” pushing the electrons.
4. 4. Watt and electric current
Watt (W) – Measurement of real power use.
- volts * amp = watts.
120V * 0.5A= 60W.
Volt-Amperes (VA) – Measurement of appear power.
- Volts * Amps
- Useful for sizing power systems.
Seen often in Uninterrupted Power supply (UPS) systems.
