    2. 2. what‘s screen? • a session based console window manager • allows to navigate among numerous views • great options to configure • re-connects with interactive dialogs (e.g. mysql, perl, etc...) • can be controlled with just 4 commands • warning: vi-effect! first you hate it then you‘ll love it!     4. 4. how to work with it? • invoke with screen • resume session with screen -r • create new views with ctrl-a c • switch to views with ctrl-a [1-9] • rename views with ctrl-a A • detatch screen session with ctrl-a d Sunday, February 8, 2009
    5. 5. situations to enjoy it • you are in the train in progress of saving the planet and your vpn connection croaks? just reinvoke screen and keep going • friday 9pm, you are fed up? shut down the computer, monday morning you‘ll be back at the same condition with a screen -r • even switch among mulitple screen sessions in case your have to juggle projects • even combine the above and have a beer inbetween Sunday, February 8, 2009
