  2. 2. Who is Poe?<br />Edgar Allen Poe was the son of two traveling actors born in Boston, Massachusetts.<br />From the start Poe’s life was rough. By the time he was 3 years old both of his parents had passed away. Poe’s Life in Richmond, VA<br />After his parents death, Poe was taken in by a wealthy tobacco merchant, John Allan and his wife Frances Valentine Allan.<br />From a young age Poe had an niche for writing.   4. 4. Poe’s College Years<br />Poe moved out of Richmond and moved on to college at the University of Virginia. There he excelled in his classes but fell into a considerable debt. <br />Since he was so far in debt he took up gambling to try to pay his bills.<br />He dropped out of college after the first semester and moved to Baltimore where his late father lived.<br />http://insiderspassport.com<br />
  5. 5. Middle Life<br />In Baltimore Poe sought out his father’s family. He found his aunt Maria Clemm, who became a mother-figure in his life.<br />At the age of 27 Poe married Virginia Clemm (his cousin) who was only fourteen-years-old.<br />In 1842 Virginia was diagnosed with tuberculosis which had already killed his mother, father, brother, and foster mother. Virginia died and 1847 at the age of 24.<br />

He thinks that he hears a raven talking to him during this time along with a number of other insane happenings that don’t really make sense.<br />
