2. Preface
• The prayer of Jesus Christ in the Garden of
Gethsemane moved me the most. He said, Father, if it
is possible, please take this cup from me, but not
according to my will, but according to your will. This
prayer also shows that salvation comes through Christ
and no other way. This prayer shows the humanity of
Jesus and sets an example for us on how to obey God’s
commands. When we are under God’s commands, we
should even put our own lives on the line. God does
not want us to sacrifice ourselves, but to put out the
old and put on the new, to throw away the mortal and
put on the immortal, to put away the filthy and put on
the eternal glory. What a blessing!

• Matt. 26:39 “He went a little farther and fell on His
face, and prayed, saying, ‘O My Father, if it is possible,
let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will,
but as You will.’”
• John. 10:18 “No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down
of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have
power to take it again. This command I have received
from My Father."
• Deuteronomy 32:39 39 ‘Now see that I, even I, am He,
And there is no God besides Me; I kill and I make alive;
I wound and I heal; Nor is there any who can deliver
from My hand.

hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God
and does His will, He hears him.”
• 1John. 1:7 “But if we walk in the light as He is in
the light, we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us
from all sin.”
• 1John. 5:14 “Now this is the confidence that we
have in Him, that if we ask anything according to
His will, He hears us.”

prayed, saying, ‘O My Father, if this cup cannot pass
away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.’”

also took the cup after supper, saying,
"This cup is the new covenant in My
blood. This do, as often as you drink it,
in remembrance of Me."”
• 1Cor. 11:26 “For as often as you eat this
bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the
Lord's death till He comes.”
