  2. 2. Introduction  As a doctor at Port Huron Ear, Nose, and Throat in Michigan, Dr. Frank Brettschneider helps patients with a variety of conditions. For instance, Dr. Frank Brettschneider has treated individuals who struggle with seasonal allergies. Many people experience seasonal allergies in the fall and spring, during which time they exhibit such symptoms as watery eyes, an itchy throat, and sneezing. While it’s a good idea to see a doctor for evaluation and treatment, making some small changes in lifestyle and routine can often provide some additional relief. For example, a person should get in the habit of removing his or her shoes when coming in from outdoors.
  3. 3. Seasonal Allergies  Pollen can stick to the bottom of shoes, thus taking off shoes and leaving them at any entryway can avoid inadvertently bringing allergens into living areas. Similarly, pollen gets into a person’s hair while he or she is out and about during the day. Therefore, a person who suffers from seasonal allergies should consider washing his or her hair before going to bed, rather than in the morning. Finally, when the weather is nice outside, a person with allergies might want to open the windows to let in fresh air. However, he or she should use air conditioning or heating systems instead to filter the fresh air before it comes into the home.
