  1. 1. Welcome at ZALF! Müncheberg, 2013
  2. 2. LandscapeZALF. Our research approach:  identifcation of problems  systemic problem analysis  analysis of interdependencies between subsystems  modelling of the whole  development of strategies to solve the problems in a sustained way ZALF in a nutshell
  3. 3. LandscapeZALF. The main research clusters: > Landscape Functioning: (Carbon-)Biogeochemistry of Landscapes > Landscape Change: Land Use and Biodiversity Change > Landscape Conflicts and Management: Rural-Urban-Interdependencies
  4. 4. Research/Transfer/Implementation

  8. 8. LandscapeZALF. To discuss solutions: A land use concept is capable of showing how the complexity of land use can be captured, conflicts of interest and usage identified and solutions developed for resolving them, meeting a key function of providing a framework for interaction between disciplines and responsibilities.
