  3. 3. What it is not<br />It is not as Robust as Microsoft Office<br />It does not handle Database applications<br />It does not do advanced spreadsheet functions<br />
  4. 4. What it can do<br />Store your documents on the Internet<br />Allow multiple users to edit the same document simultaneously<br />Set limits on who can edit and view the document<br />Allow the document to be accessed from the Internet<br />
  5. 5. How Can this be used at school?<br />Students can work in groups across multiple classes. For example astudent in 1A could work on a project with a student in 3B<br />Students can allow the teacher access to view the document as it is being developed<br />Students can save their projects online (no lost assignments)<br />Students do not need to have a specific version of a word processing program.<br />
  6. 6. Working with Google Docs<br />http://docs.google.com<br />Login with your Google Account<br />If you do not have a google account create one.<br />
  7. 7. Create New Document<br />In the Top Left of your web browser there is a dropdown that will allow you to create a new document.<br /><ul><li>Document (Word)
  8. 8. Presentation (Powerpoint)
  9. 9. Spreadsheet (Excel)
  10. 10. Form (Survey)
  11. 11. Folder</li></li></ul><li>Save your document<br />Click on the icon of the disk to save your document to your folder on the Google website.<br />You can always download it later if you want to.<br />
  12. 12. Share your document<br />When you are in your document choose the share button and you can invite others to:<br /><ul><li>View via a web browser

Edit the document</li></li></ul><li>Other uses for staff<br />Google Docs (as well as wiki’s) offer a change for a team of individuals to work together.<br />Departments can collaborate in a more relaxed schedule to develop lesson plans, procedures, and other documents.<br />Documents can be developed and shared without e-mail, editing, resending, and re-editing. <br />
