1. 1. Ladies… Are Weight Lifting Machines To Blame For Your Lack Of A Tight Butt And Still Jello Jiggly Arms? Presented by: Taylor Ryan, NASM Certified Personal Trainer http://www.fitness-analyzer.com http://www.totaltonedwomensclub.com/blog
    2. 2. Does This Sound Like You?

Preform Random/Nonplanned workouts

There is no program design and you find yourself jumping around from machine to machine.

Your strength training workout doesn’t include one free weight or barbell.

Your strength training comes AFTER cardio and last all of 15 minutes… all of which are using machines.

    3. 3. Top Secret: Why Gyms Have All Those Machines

You may walk into a gym and see all the machines spread over a gym floor and believe that this adds creditials and makes the gym worth your while

More Machines = Better Gym?

Not The Case… most of those machines are there to give you that impression… the more space that is taken up with machines, the more people think they are getting in a membership

Machines are pizzazz not for great workouts

They take up 65% of the floor, with the majority of what is left going to cardio machines and the small bit left goes to weights…

    4. 4. Why Machines Don’t Deliver Big Results

Fixed Range of Motion

One Size Doesn’t Fit All Principle

Based On Isolating Muscles

No Attention Required… Mind Easily Wonders

Time To Learn Why You Are Being Held Back…

    5. 5. Fixed Range Of Motion

Fixed Range of Motion

If you head to the bicep curl machine the only option you have is to curl up in one set track. The angle never changes with the reps, the moves stays constant.

With a fixed range of motion , you have no choice but to move a certain way.

Often you are not moving in a path that is functional in real life and athletics. Failing to: use stabilizer muscles, and your joints efficiently… they can’t get a complete workouts because they are stuck in one direction.

So with the bicep example: the bicep has 2 attachments (bi = two heads) and to give the entire muscle a workout, it should be hit from different angles. There seem to be more variations of bicep curls than there are flavors of ice cream:

Hammer curl, preach curls, incline curls, barbell curls, and the reverse bicep curl to name a few .

How many different bicep machines do you see?

    6. 6. Too Big Or Too Small… Never Just The Right Size

Sure… you can adjust the machines but do they ever adjust to a perfect fit?

No… safe to say that most machines were designed by men for men.

What’s wrong with a poorly sized up machine?

Form suffers… possibly putting unnecessary stress on joints and muscles = INJURY

Learn to avoid workout injuries…

http://www. theartofweightlifting .com

    7. 7. Why Hit One Muscle: Isolation Moves

Machines are known for their isolated muscle workouts: each machine targets one major muscle at a time (some target only a minor muscle).

A total body workout and efficient muscle workout would have you using all of the dozens of machines on the floor per workout.

Waste of time and boring

Don’t hit up assisting muscles, stabalizers or antagonists muscles

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: you can do a total body workout with only 4 exercises using free weights!!

The squat works: legs, butt, core, back, calves and more! Just one exercise!

    8. 8. The Power Of The Squat…
    9. 9. Are You Really Paying Attention To The Workout?

It is way too easy to sit down on the machines, set it at a low weight and people watch while you do a few reps.

If you aren’t paying attention to the workout there is no way you are working hard enough to get results.

These machines give false hope… just doing them doesn’t lead to a great body, that takes hard work, sweat, energy, and intensity.

With free weights you are forced to pay more attention to each movement!

    10. 10. The Answer To Getting Real Results…

In case you haven’t picked up on it…

WEIGHT TRAINING WITH FREE WEIGHTS IS THE WAY TO GO!

Do fewer exercises, push yourself harder and go further than ever.

If you are new to weight training and need advice for moves, motivation and more check out The Art of Weight Lifting Today
