Overview
Most of us in the digital space think of UX as something that happens inside our screens, but user experience is in every product, service or space we encounter. Why do street signs look the way they do? Why are some parking lots infuriating? Why did it take me 17 minutes to open that package of batteries? Analyzing the world through the lens of UX can help us discover opportunities for improvement and inspiration that we can infuse back into the digital things we make.

Objective

To lift our heads up from our screens for a minute, and understand the UX that’s been around since before we had these amazing, addictive, glowing sheets of glass.

Target Audience

Anyone making things for the screen.

Five Things Audience Members Will Learn.

How to apply UX thinking to the physical world
How to recognize opportunity in everyday experiences
UX research techniques
What it looks like when UX IRL has a positive impact
How real world UX success can positively impact our digital things
