  1. 1. Imperialism You and Your Partner’s Name World History, Period ___ Due Thur, Feb 20
  2. 2. Map Identify which Western country conquered that region. Find or draw a MAP of the region to be placed on your poster that shows who conquered what.
  3. 3. Timeline Come up with a TIMELINE with at least 5 dates that trace how they went about taking over the country region.
  4. 4. Natives’ Perspective Quests 1 – 2 Research and answer the questions for the conquered side of your poster. 1. How did the natives live under the rule of their colonizers? (Look at living and working conditions.) 2. Early Resistance: Example of some type of REBELLION - Who was involved? What did they do? Where did it take place? Why were they fighting? When did it take place?

Natives’ Perspective Quests 3 - 4 Research and answer the questions for the conquered side of your poster. 3.Political Resistance: Nationalist Organizations founded by natives: Who founded these organizations? What was their purpose? When were they founded? 4. Independence Leaders: Who is he? What did he believe? What did he do? When was he born? When did he die?
  6. 6. Imperialists’ Perspective Quests 1 – 3 Research and answer the questions for the colony side of your poster. 1. Why did the western country want to colonize the native country? (Think resources, imports, trade) 2. How did the western country take control? 3. How did the colonists live in the natives’ land?
  7. 7. Imperialists’ Perspective Quests 4 – 5 Research and answer the questions for the colony side of your poster. 4. How did they treat the natives? (look at living conditions and working conditions) 5. What were the positive and negative effects of Imperialism in Africa, India, China or Hawaii/ Philippines?
  8. 8. TWO Pictures • Make sure your poster or presentation has at least TWO pictures on each side of your poster. • These images can be drawn or photocopied or taken from the internet.
