Det hele begynte med noen unge entusiastiske mennesker som ønsket å kommunisere sin lidenskap for været og værfenomener. I dag er selskapet en ledende leverandør av beslutingsstøttesystemer for værsensitive operasjoner med 320 ansatte, 22 kontorer fra Anchorage i vest til Tokyo i øst og 80 % eksport. Kunnskap om kundens operasjonelle kriterier og konsekvensene av været står helt sentralt i selskapets strategi og forretningsmodell. Eksempeler på dette er hvor stor blir den vertikale hastigheten på et helikopterdekk på en oljerigg gitt varslede bølgeforhold. Hvor mye energi kan en vindturbin produsere i morgen ut fra varslet vindstyrke.
Kent Zehetner startet sin karriere som IT-konsulent innen energi og media, og var innleid som rådgiver da StormGeo ble etablert. Siden 2000 har han jobbet i StormGeo og innehatt ulike posisjoner innen F&U, ledet salgs- og markedsavdelingen, før han ble utnevnt til adm. dir. i 2009. Zehetner har bred internasjonal erfaring innen salg og de senere årene gjennom oppkjøp av selskaper og styreverv. Han er utdannet innen økonomi og innehar en Cand. Polit. i Informasjonsvitenskap med spesialisering innen beslutningsstøttesystemer.
