Downtown Donnybrook: FDNY vs. Dublin Amateur Boxing

On Thursday March 6th the FDNY Bravest Boxing Team will host the Garda Boxing Club from Dublin in the "downtown donnybrook" at Webster Hall in NYC. The Garda Boxing Club is made up of members of the National Irish Police Force. This event will feature 12 bouts of exciting amateur boxing between the two clubs. The Bravest Boxing team believes in raising money for charity through spirited competition. Their motto is to "fight anyone, anywhere, anytime....as long as it's for a good cause" They have donated over $50,000 to Building Homes for Heroes. This organization builds new handicap accessible homes for returning veterans who have suffered severe injuries in combat. Tickets for this card cost $25 for gen. admission and $50 for VIP ringside and are on sale now through Eventbrite (www.fdnyboxing.eventbrite.com) Doors open at 6:00 PM with first bout at 7:00 PM sharp.

CASSANO, Fire Commissioner facebook.com/FDNYhome nyc.gov/fdny twitter.com/FDNY ***MEDIA ADVISORY*** FDNY BRAVEST BOXERS BATTLE THE IRISH NATIONAL POLICE FORCE’S GARDA BOXING CLUB The FDNY Bravest Boxing team will take on the Irish National Police Force’s Garda Boxing Club at Webster Hall on Thursday, March 6 at 7 p.m. The evening will include 12 three-round matches featuring FDNY members versus Irish Police Officers. This is the first of two meetings this year, as the FDNY team will head to Dublin in October for another night of fights. Members of the two Departments have previously fought at the World Police and Fire Games. Funds raised from the event will benefit Building Homes for Heroes, a group which helps severely wounded veterans and their families rebuild their lives. Each year, the FDNY Boxing team competes in several amateur boxing matches against other Fire Department and Police Departments from around the world. In the past several years, the FDNY Bravest Boxing team has donated over $50,000 to military related charities. The Bravest Boxing team consists of FDNY members who train for their grueling matches on their own time and live by the motto that they’ll fight “anyone, anywhere, anytime, as long as it’s for a good cause!” Tickets are available at www.fdnyboxing.eventbrite.com.
