  • Why is this important for your life? As you have a physical body you also have a spiritual body. We tend to focus on taking care of the physical, because it is what we can see. But it is actually the spirit that determines how much we are able to experience peace in our lives, how much we experience a deep sense of happiness in what we do. As physical body grows we are able to do more, experience more independence, become more autonomous. Same for our spirit. As our spirit grows and becomes mature we are able to experience a whole new realm of freedom and purpose in our life.
  • Everything we do here is in a deeper sense about making people experience discipleship and the spiritual maturity which that brings. Every seminar we do, every sermon that gets taught, our music ministry, our prayer evenings, serving the lunch, etc Anyone who wants to be my disciple must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me. John 12:26
  • Spiritual growth is a choice. It is not automatic It is not involuntary, it is not inevitable, but it is something that is intentional. You have to chose to grow spiritually. God is not going to force you to grow. He leaves it up to you. You must want to grow in 2010. You are as close to God as you chose to be. You can grow old with out growing up. We all know this as we become an adult, and especially when we become parents, because we discover that often we are limited in what we want to teach our children, or what we want to accomplish in our career or work life, because we have not developed our character our heart to their full potential.
  • You must commit to growth in order to grow. This is the year I get it into gear. You must come and follow. You can’t just sit on your rear if you want to grow spiritually. You have to get into gear U gotta move it move it. Making a clear commitment causes you to grow: This principle is true in every area of life. Marriage causes u to grow up, having kids causes u to grow, deciding to go to college causes u to grow. If u have a fear of commmitment it will stop u from growing up. What I want to help u think about is what is it worth being commited to. U cant commit to everything, so therefore u need to prioritise your commitments. In terms of being a disciple: Different levels of commitment: Come and See (John 1:39)…….Come and follow…..Meet needs…tired, thirsty … and later Jesus spoke about taking up your cross.
  • “ Anyone who wants to be my disciple must follow me, because my servants must be where I am . And the Father will honor anyone who serves me. ” John 12:26 Talk to him all the time. (when you get close to someone, you don’t have to be physically with them to be guided by them to be influenced by them. E.g. wife) So this means we want to learn to talk to God, talk to our saviour all the time. We can talk to God when we are having a conversation with another person. When the devil puts an idea in your mind = temptation ………When God puts an idea in your mind = inspiration Spiritual growth is about being able to distinguish between what is just u what is temptation and what is from God Relationships can only grow when we are together. How can you make time with Jesus a regular time of your day, every day? Several of you share ways you have found to make regular conversation with Jesus a way of life. Its not about rules,…. must love me supremely: your love for God should be first. In fact the more you love God the more u r able to love others When a husband loves God supremely he creates security in the hearts of his children and his spouse. He’s not doing this on his own, there is a higher motivation Spiritual growth is measure by love: not by how much you go to church, by your words, knowledge, by your success, but by how much you love god and others. Worship = what u love the most
  • I MUST LOVE EVERY OTHER DISCIPLE: John 13:35 ” Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” I love God, but just can’t handle the people, we are lying We demonstrate radical love by staying committed to each other in a family—a spiritual community. We are to commune together in a group because we cannot have fellowship alone and we cannot love alone. One way to ensure fellowship is through small groups. And experience shows that the host grows the most. Consider making this the year you host your own small group, or agree within your group to rotate hosts.
  • SPIRITUAL GROWTH IS BASED ON GOD’S WORD. SPIRITUAL GROWTH IS AN ONGOING PROCESS. SPIRITUAL GROWTH IS BASED ON WHAT I DO , NOT WHAT I KNOW. SPIRITUAL GROWTH IS HABITUAL. SPIRITUAL GROWTH PRODUCES FRUIT!
  • Anyone who wants to be my disciple must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me. John 12:26 Mark 12:29-30 (New Living Translation) 29 Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. 30 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ [ a ] By the time I was born and was growing up, much of the wealth that my great-grandfather had accumulated was gone, and our family had just enough to get by. The family tradition of feeding others was still alive, however, and we would feed others even if it meant there wouldn’t be enough to feed our family members. The first thing I learned after I learned to walk was how to serve food to others. Luke 14:26 (New Living Translation)26 “If you want to be my disciple, you must hate everyone else by comparison—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple.
