  2. 2. Sea Gypsies The Moken are often called ‘sea gypsies’. Some follow their traditionallifestyle in the costal areas of Thailand and Myanmar.
  3. 3. • They catch seafood and sell it in fishing villages. Moken children learn to swim before they can walk. They can see underwater twice as clearly as the rest of us and can stay underwater twice as long!
  4. 4. The Sami live in northen Scandinavia.Most of them now have ‘normal’ jobsin towns and cities but some carryon their traditional way of life.
  5. 5. Nowadays, the Sami usesnowmobiles and mobile phones when they are looking after theiranimals. However, they still weartheir colourful costumes and sing their traditional songs.
  6. 6. The world ‘Bedouin’ means ‘desertinhabitant’. Many Bedouins live intowns in Arabia and North Africa butsome still make trips into the desert toget food for their camels.
  7. 7. Bedouins know many tricks to find water. Forexample, when they see insects or birds, they know water is usually near.
