  2. 2. SUBJECTS OFFERED<br />1. Sport:(Compulsory) <br />2. Sport, Lifestyle & Recreation:SLR (Elective) <br />Two courses:<br />a) 1 Unit SLR – 3 periods per week<br />b) 2 Unit SLR – 6 periods per week<br />3. PDHPE 2 Unit:(Elective) – 6 periods per week<br />

SENIOR SPORT<br />Sport is a Department of Education requirement.<br />All students must participate in sport to a satisfactory level.<br />3 periods per week with the entire year group.<br />There is only a satisfactory or unsatisfactory level of <br /> achievement.<br />All students who are unsatisfactory in Yr 11 may <br />jeopardise their progression to year 12.<br />
  4. 4. SPORT, LIFESTYLE& RECREATION<br /><ul><li>This course can be studied as a one or two unit subject
  5. 5. SLR is a non-ATARsubject.
  6. 6. 1 Unit = 3 periods of study per week.
  7. 7. 2 Unit = 6 periods of study per week.

Both a theory (30%) and practical (70%) based subject – not just sport.</li></li></ul><li>SPORT, LIFESTYLE& RECREATION<br /><ul><li>Within this course the class selects 2 - 3 (1 Unit) and 6 - 12 (2 Unit) topics over 2 years from a list of 15 different areas e.g.:</li></ul>* Games and Sports * Aquatics<br />* Individual Games and Sports * Athletics<br />* First Aid and Sport Injuries * Dance <br />* Sports Administration * Fitness <br />* Outdoor Recreation * Gymnastics<br />* Resistance Training * Healthy Lifestyle<br />* Sports Coaching and Training<br />* Social Perspectives of <br /> Games and Sports <br />
  9. 9. 2 UNIT PDHPE OVERVIEW<br />This is an ATARsubject.<br />Theoretical based subject where students study and explore a range of practical and health related concepts.<br />The only practical that is involved is based around laboratories and testing of biomechanical, fitness and skill acquisition principles.<br />HSC exam is a 3 hour written examination<br />
  10. 10. 2 UNIT PDHPE PRELIMINARY HSC<br />The Preliminary HSC course consists of two core modules representing 60% of course time. An options component representing 40% of course time includes four options of which students are to study two.<br />CORE STRANDS (60%)<br /><ul><li> Better Health for Individuals (30%)
