  3. 3. Wounded Warriors<br />Operation WOW!<br />Wounded Warriors Golf Tournament Thursday, Aug. 5, 9:10 a.m., at Burke Lake Golf Course. <br />Residents with military experience are needed to volunteer with wounded warriors injured in Iraq and Afghanistan.<br />Call 703-324-9566 to help.<br />

Watershed Management<br />Watershed management plans help identify and address the issues impacting our environment to protect and restore county streams and other water resources.<br />Open forums in August and September. <br />For information, contact the Stormwater Planning Division at 703-324-5500.<br />

Cooling Assistance<br />Federally funded program:<br />Helps eligible low-income households with at least one person considered especially vulnerable to heat: a child under age six, a disabled individual or an adult age 60 or older.<br />Applications are accepted through Monday, Aug. 16.  <br />

Fan Program<br />Electric fan distribution program:<br />Provides free fans and/or window air conditioners to eligible senior adults. <br />Must be at least 60 years old, need a fan to prevent heat-related health problems and meet income eligibility.<br />Limit of one fan per household.<br />www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dfs<br />
  7. 7. Vehicle Registration<br />2010 Fairfax County Personal Property Tax bills are due on Oct. 5. Bills include a new $33 registration fee for cars normally located in the county as of July 1, 2010.<br />There is no county windshield decal to purchase or display. <br />
