Factors Affecting the Eyelash Growth Rate

 1. 1. Factors Affecting the Eyelash Growth Rate
You cannot have long eyelashes in just one day. The eyelash growth rate is quite less as compared to the growth of hair on your head. As an estimate, if you have typically small eyelashes, it will usually take several months to have a long one.
This means that you will need to have a lot of patience to let it grow, since the change is hardly noticeable. The total time taken by the eyelashes to grow back also depends on the factors that triggered the loss of your eyelashes. These factors could be anything. Some common factors that lead to the loss of eyelashes in the first place are your age, genes, lifestyle, diet and even your hormonal state.
The growth of eyelashes can be divided into three broad steps. They are:
•Anagen Growth Phase
•Catagen Growth Cycle
•Telogen Growth Phase
Let us now study these phases in some detail.
Anagen Growth Phase – This cycle is medically known to be the first and the most active growth stage. This is so because it is in the cycle that approximately 30% of the eyelashes start to grow. The stage is an extensive stage and can last for as long as 7 weeks.
Catagen Growth Cycle – This stage causes an interruption, but nevertheless plays an equally part in the overall eyelash growth cycle. Also known as the lag phase due to its behavior, the growth of the eyelashes stop and the follicles start to shrink when the growth reaches this stage. The catagen growth cycle is comparatively smaller when it comes to the duration, and can last for a maximum of 3 weeks.
Telogen Growth Phase – This is also known as the final stages, since it is the last stage of the eyelashes before they start falling off. An important point here is that every eyelash has its own growth cycle. This means that there is never a time when all the eyelashes start growing at the same time, or even start falling off at the same time.
Now that you know about the growth cycle of the eyelashes, it is time we shed some some light on the factors that affect the time taken by the eyelashes to grow. It has been noticed that most victims of frequent eyelash loss are the ones that do not consume a proper and nutritious diet.
Similarly, people eating a lot of processed or junk food are also the ones that have a tendency for slower growth of eyelashes. The simple reason behind this is that since they do not have the essential nutrients that are required for proper growth of eyelashes, they exhibit a slower tendency for their growth. On the other hand, people who have balanced diets have faster growing eyelashes.
Your lifestyle can also heavily affect your growth of eyelashes, Studies have found out that people who do not consume alcohol or smoke cigarettes at all can have a quicker growth of eyelashes as compared to people who drink and smoke cigarettes. Based on these factors and the others that had initiated the loss of eyelashes in the very first place, you will be able to know how long it will take for yours to grow.
Eyelash growth is natural phenomenon that happens every time your eyelashes fall. To have long eyelashes, here are some factors you should know and avoid.
