  19. 19. 20 Comments from CEOs
  20. 20. 21 Comments 2016/17 and D8 has been a big shakeout for talent in Drupal. A lot of people who could operate in commercial Drupal delivery in 2012-2015 (with demand outstripping supply markedly) simply will not be viable candidates for Drupal work in 2018. There is no 'easy" work left and many people who came in during the good times will not be able to sustain careers in the new world.
  21. 21. 22 Comments Acquia should partner with agencies that actually contribute to Drupal. Their preference for non contributing firms has been a huge issue for Drupal, and has (along with their aggressive sales) done great damage to the ecosystem of Drupal contributions.
  22. 22. 23 Comments Single biggest issue that could kill our company is not being able to source talented Drupal developers and constantly having to deal with poachers ('recruiters') trying to raid our staff. we keep people as happy as we can but its a really difficult situation that could force us away from Drupal within the next year or two if it keeps going like this.
  23. 23. 24 Comments The clients we have are local and prefer local developers to work in their project. We only develop with our own resources in Switzerland. a little more expensive but we Need the good Quality. Technology stack is less important as project size grow
  24. 24. 25 Comments Customers just /want/ to build non-Drupal front- ends, be it for SPAs or just to give front-end devs more freedom, and they're tired of never being able to recruit competent Drupal devs. We had a lot of customers who where disappointed with WordPress and Joomla
  25. 25. 26 What Next?
  26. 26. 27 Our Advice The future and success of Drupal lays on our hands. We, the business community, need to be more active accelerating the growth. While we compete, we need to work together.
  27. 27. 28 Our Advice Marketing and positioning Drupal needs our help. Consider joining Drupal marketing sprints tomorrow. We need to both maintain and develop our appetite for growth. There is money out there that belongs to us.
  28. 28. 29 THANK YOU!
