‘Discover e-volunteering’ is the only competition, both in Poland and in Europe, which aims at honouring and promoting the most interesting projects concerning the co-operation of non-governmental organizations with e-volunteers seeking to help others via the Internet.

  2. 2. The idea of• There is huge social power on the Internet! Every day people and communities support each other on forums, give advice, share knowledge and skills.• E-volunteering is volunteer work conducted via the Internet. Free Web counseling, forming assistance and self-help groups, coordinating campaigns, researching information, or teaching on-line courses are among many examples of e-volunteering.• Virtual activities overcome the barriers of space and time, so they are accessible for everyone, thus deepening European integration and cooperation.

The e-volunteering project• The ‘E-volunteering’ Project is carried out by Good Network Foundation and the Orange Foundation, with the collaboration of the Polish ‑ American Freedom Foundation.• www.e-wolontariat.pl & www.e-volunteering.eu - the first portal, both in Poland and Europe, dedicated to the online volunteering• Digital revolution is already here, people are helping each others through the Net, so there is a great need for initiative showing and promoting this positive side of the Internet.

  5. 5. ‘Discover e-volunteering’ – general information• ‘Discover e-volunteering’ is the only competition, both in Poland and in Europe, which aims at honouring and promoting the most interesting projects concerning the co-operation of non-governmental organizations with e-volunteers seeking to help others via the Internet.• The Competition is open to any non govermental organization from the European Union which runs an e-volunteering project.• Winners of the ‘Discover e-volunteering’ Competition are chosen by the International Selection Committee and Internet users via online voting.• Financial awards are given for the development of the winning e-volunteering projects.
  6. 6. ‘Discover e-volunteering’ – aims of the Competition• showing innovative and interesting usage of new technologies in order to strengthen civil society and increase public commitment,• encouragement for individuals to undertake social activity on the Internet,• promotion and dissemination knowledge on e-volunteering,• presenting the diversity of e-volunteering projects,• creation of a database of good practices,• working towards the standards for online volunteering,• development of networking and experience exchange among the organizers of virtual volunteering.

The laureate of the 2nd placeNacionaline Moksleiviu Akademija – aninitiative to help the most talented students inLithuania to develop their skills and achievesuccess in education, independently of theirsocial and economical status. In addition to theregular online learning and individualcounseling, on-site sessions are organisedthree times a year, where students attendhigh-quality subject and personal developmentclasses.
  15. 15. The laureate of the 1st place‘Dawca.pl’ project (Polskie TowarzystwoProgramów Zdrowotnych, Poland)– a publiccampaign that promotes conscious organ,bone marrow and blood donation. Its workis based mainly on e-ducation through thewebsite, Facebook, as well as e-learningtools. In promoting the issue, Dawca.pl alsouses its website, Polish first Internettransplantology tuition and world’s firstapplication on Facebook promotingdeclaration of will to donate organs.
