2. SALVIACIM®
INDUSTRIAL FLOORING
Industries are using more and more sophisticated and demanding processes and equipment to
ensure high quality production under the best possible conditions of safety, strength and comfort.
They are therefore increasingly installing high-quality flooring designed to support their equipment
and withstand very heavy loads.
To enable these floors to bear the wide variety of stresses to which they are subjected (mechanical
stresses, heavy loads, channelled traffic, etc.), Eurovia provides a process that combines the
qualities of flexible bituminous mixes and those of rigid cement concretes: Salviacim®.

3. FOR RELIABLE AND
DURABLE HARD
SURFACES
The thicknesses of the various layers are calculated
using a special structural design method that factors in
the foreseeable dynamic and static stresses to which
the structure will be subjected.
Salviacim® is generally laid over a base course of road
base asphalt or high-modulus asphalt mix.
It can also be applied over cement bond aggregates
treated with hydraulic binder.
The open-graded hot mix is produced and laid in
accordance with conventional road construction
methods. The slurry is produced in a concrete
batch plant or a special self-propelled mixer at the
construction site. It is percolated into the hot mix by
vibration.
The slurry can be batch-coloured for decorative or
signalling purposes. Additional paint or synthetic resin
coatings may be applied to provide colour, improved
chemical resistance, increased dust resistance or
appropriate surface roughness.
A WIDE VARIETY OF
APPLICATIONS
Salviacim® is a jointless continuous surfacing that
provides excellent safety for pneumatic or solid tyred
handling equipment. Salviacim® is used to build and
refurbish indoor and outdoor surfaces subject to
high static and dynamic mechanical and/or thermal
stresses:
industrial and commercial warehouses and storage
sites
storage and handling areas
HGV parking areas, aircraft parking areas
port facilities
tracks for track-laying vehicles
bus and pneumatic-tyred tram lanes and stops
train station platforms
multi-purpose halls (with additional surface
treatment).
Over the last 40 years, Eurovia has covered several
tens of millions of sq. metres of industrial and
commercial flooring with Salviacim® in all sectors and
all over the world.
4. KNOWN AND
ACKNOWLEDGED
PERFORMANCE
Salviacim consists of an open-graded
bituminous hot mix in which the voids are
filled with a slurry made up of cement, mineral
filler, synthetic resin and water. This slurry is
percolated through the entire thickness of the
hot mix.
The complete structure is a monolithic complex
with the characteristics of both a bituminous
mix – flexibility, absence of joints – and those of
a hydraulic binder based material – mechanical
strength, resistance to chemicals, light colour.
CHEMICAL RESISTANCE
®
Salviacim® withstands the effects of a wide
variety of chemicals. The resistance to
accidental spills of hydrocarbons can be
increased by means of specific formulations.
The use of special cements in the slurry confers
increased resistance to acid products.
MECHANICAL
PROPERTIES
Salviacim® offers excellent shear and impact
resistance as well as strong resistance to static
shear failure and the stresses generated by
rolling loads.
Salviacim® withstands static shear
failure of between 7MPa and 10MPa,
depending on the nature of the slurry.
Test conditions:
oad applied for 24 hours at a
l
temperature of 20°C to a Salviacim®
sample aged at least 28 days and
placed on a non-deformable surface.
dmissible track depth : 1mm over
