Prof. Marta Sališová, PhD. <ul><li>Prof. Sališová was born 7.12.1945 in Okoličné, Žilina county, Slovakia </li></ul><ul><li>Her parents didn´t work in the field of chemistry </li></ul><ul><li>In elementary school she had an excellent chemistry teacher and she became interested in chemistry . </li></ul>

Career <ul><li>After university, she starts her PhD study </li></ul><ul><li>One year later she started working at the Department of Organic Chemistry </li></ul><ul><li>She had the biggest problem with obtaining of appropriate accommodation in Bratislava </li></ul><ul><li>Since 1970 she was the assistant, since 1973 the assistant Professor and since 1993 the associate Professor at Department of Organic Chemistry </li></ul>
  6. 6. The Pleasure of Finding Things Out <ul><li>The organic chemistry, firstly the chemistry of ferocene and later the chemistry of chiral compounds is the favourite discipline of Prof. Sališová </li></ul><ul><li>1993 she synthesized a new organic compound - ferocenophan-1,3-dion </li></ul>
  7. 7. The I nternational C ooperation <ul><li>1997 – 1998 Prof. Sališová was a coordinator a Tempus project NEW CURRICULUM IN CHIRAL CHEMISTRY </li></ul><ul><li>Experts from 7 European countries cooperate in the field of synthesis, separation and isolation of pure enantiomers </li></ul>

Prof. Sališová and the Young People <ul><li>Why the students of secondary school know very well the name of Prof. Sališová: </li></ul><ul><li>She regularly take a part at the S u mmer School of Chemistry </li></ul><ul><li>She is a mentor of the Slovak team in many competitions of International Chemical Olympiad </li></ul>
  9. 9. Prof. Sališová and the Young People <ul><li>She is the author of the tasks in Chemical Olympiad competition </li></ul><ul><li>She was the author of the organic synthesis task for the inter n ational Grand Prix Chimique competition in 2001 </li></ul>
