Why the Service Exists <ul><li>For example </li></ul><ul><ul><li>PURPOSE: To enhance the visibility of libraries specialising in development issues in the EADI network </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>To point out the strengths of the various library collections of the partners </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>USERS: Researchers, students, librarians </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>BENEFITS: To have an access also to older documents, and to have some guidance how to obtain those document. To have a direct link to the network’s libraries. </li></ul></ul>

What the Service Does <ul><li>NATURE of the service or application: The possibility to search the catalogues of 11 libraries with one search form, 3 more will be included soon </li></ul><ul><li>The CONTENT that is provided: a selection of resources that have been screened by librarians </li></ul><ul><li>Any UNIQUE or INNOVATIVE aspects? Service includes the possibility to search open access journals. In the longer run, links to open archives/repositories and document servers that are available in the EADI network will be added. </li></ul>

How the Service is Provided <ul><li>How it is put together: A simple search form that is provided by ISS, based on open source software </li></ul><ul><li>DELIVERY strategies, devices, tools and products of the service or application: A newsfeed on library news can be subscribed, a guidance on how to obtain a document is given </li></ul>

Reflections on the Service <ul><li>Most Significant ACHIEVEMENT of the service: during 2007, the complete website was reworked, a new design implemented, and a dialogue with the partners continued. Two more partner joined the service. </li></ul><ul><li>Innovative CHARACTERISTICS of the service: libraries are in the focal point, their innovations are being reflected on the EL@ND website, for example their newsfeeds and news </li></ul><ul><li>An OPPORTUNITY or CHALLENGE facing the service: that it will be used by librarians and researchers as reference tool </li></ul>
