  5. 5. Independence Hall, Tel Aviv Israel was declared a nation at this place. The first Israeli Prime Minister, David Ben Gurion, proclaimed the State of Israel at 4 pm on May 14, 1948, eight hours before the British mandate over the region was due to end.
  6. 6. Israel's rebirth, May 14, 1948 Isaiah 66:8 Who has ever heard of such a thing? Who has ever seen such things? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment? Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children.
  7. 8. Mandatory Military Service After graduating from high school, all Israeli citizens must serve in the military. -Men 3 years, women 2 -All citizens remain in the reserves and must serve one month out of the year doing military service.
