  1. 1. ROTARY INTERNATIONAL THEME IN 2009-2010 OFFICIAL WEEKLY PUBLICATIO OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF MAKATI SA LORE ZO PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE PROGRAMME ROWENA “Jing” SARAO Call to Order Pres. Jing Sarao Invocation The last week of August was punctuated by a well-attended Marie Rustia joint meeting with 10 other clubs at the Polo Club, when we all had the opportunity of listening to Ms. Gina Lopez who National Anthem heads the Kapit Bisig sa Ilog Pasig. Our club with Ranjie Tantoco RCMEast and Forbes led the joint meeting with our beloved Introduction of DG Sid Garcia. A total amount of P50,000 was donated by Visiting Rotarians and our club to the ABS-CBN Foundation for the clean up of Guests Pasig River, and augmented by other pledges from our Alice Villanueva distinct members. The week also witnessed holding of Governor’s Day held at the Tuloy Sa Don Bosco in Alabang President’ President’s Time attended by nearly all clubs in the District and out club Pres. Jing Sarao donated P10,000 and 2 sacks of rice. Our club also Introduction of donated one nebulizer, CDs for gynecological cancer, and Guest Speaker brochures to Calawis, Antipolo. Odette Ong Today, we have the blessed opportunity of being anointed Guest Speaker by a distinguished Honorary Member, Fr. Larry Tan, a Fr. Larry Tan, SDB Salesian from Don Bosco, who will offer guidance on how Adjournment the Holy Spirit can empower Rotarians achieve their Pres. Jing Sarao visions. Next week we shall celebrate with all September born celebrants, together with August born PP Marilou Program Moderator Romero. The month is expected to end with a TRF dinner PP Cynthia Reyes with all Paul Harris donors. INVOCATION SEPTEMBER Thank you dear Lord for the gift of friends 09 Cynthia Reyes and love ones in Rotary. We have gained 21 Shelly Lazaro goodwill, friendship, sharing of time, talents 22 Carol Mercado and treasures to help those who have less in life. 26 Rangie Tantoco Bless all the priests in our country, hold them 27 Marian Ong near your heart, guide and protect them, and most of all empower them by the power of your Holy Spirit to spread your gift of love. OFFICIAL WEEKLY PUBLICATIO OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF MAKATI SA LORE ZO Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 JOINT MEETING Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, Manila Polo Club Gina Lopez of ABS- CBN Foundation shared her vision of how best to clean the Pasig River. RCM San Lorenzo, RCM East and RCM Forbes led 10 other clubs in raising the level of awareness of the District on the worthwhile project of cleaning the Pasig River. After our club, donated a total of P50,000, other Rotarians, led by our members, submitted pledges to support the funds needed for the project.

LARRY TAN, S.D.B., A Salesian of Don Bosco, was born on November 27, 1953, he grew up in Makati during his tender years and studied in Don Bosco Technical Institute - San Lorenzo Village Makati - where he discovered his priestly and religious vocation. He entered the minor seminary barely 12 years old in Don Bosco Juniorate, Bacolor Pampanga in pursuit of his dream of one day becoming a Salesian priest. He earned his BSE degree and took his Philosophical Studies in Don Bosco Seminary College, Canlubang Laguna. He graduated Magna cum Laude in sacred Theology at UST – Espana, Manila. On December 8 1980 he was ordained a priest at the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in Better Living Subdivision, Parañaque. As a Salesian priest, he has been assigned in several Don Bosco Schools in different capacities, mostly concerned with education and administration. Hi finished his M.A. degree in Educational Administration in Ateneo de Manila University – Loyola Heights. He was sent abroad to take up Salesianity Courses in Don Bosco Hall and Spirituality at the Graduate Theological Union (GTU) in Berkeley , USA . after the grenade throwing incident in his office as principal of Don Bosco Technical Institute, Makati last June 8, 1989. He has been deeply involved with the Catholic Charismatic Renewal through the Bukas Loob sa Diyos Covenant Community since 1986 when he attended the BLD Marriage Encounter and life in the Spirit Seminar. He has been pretty much in demand for preaching retreats to young and old alike. Presently he is SALESIAN MISSIONS DIRECTOR in charge of raising funds for the support of the pastoral projects of the Salesians in The Philippines.
  4. 4. OFFICIAL WEEKLY PUBLICATIO OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF MAKATI SA LORE ZO Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 Literacy Summit Organizational Meeting Tuesday, Sept. 01, 2009, Aerospace Museum, Nichols Air Base. In preparation for the Literacy Summit to be held on September 10, at the Aerospace Museum, around 80 clubs in the District joined forces to carry out this project to showcase all the Literacy project that the District is supporting. Dinky Soliman Wednesday, Sept. 02, 2009 Related to the 3H Grant, we met with Boy, the assistant of Dinky Soliman, to help the club implement 3H Grant in Antipolo. Boy is the one to visit Calawis and interact with the indigenous people to implement the project. BULLETIN BOARD Below are the activities throughout the month of September being conducted by the District which requires our participation: a. Literacy Summit on September 10, Thursday, 11:30am-3:00pm at Aerospace Museum at Nichols Airbase. b. New Gen with 10 Interact members from General Pio del Pilar School on September 12, Saturday from 8:00 am-5:00 pm Calawis, Antipolo The club went to Calawis to follow c. Rotary Community Corp, on up the implementation of 3H Grant. Thursday, September 19, Saturday from 8:00 Sept. 03, 2009, With us were SVP Roland Zurbano am – 5:00 pm at the Paranaque City of Antipolo who would like to link with our club gym. and Munti del Rosario. Meeting of New Gen at Umac in September 5, to discuss the youth programs related to Interact and Rotaract. Likewise, the 1st WCS project fair meeting at Makati Sports in September 4. Inductions New Generations RC Paranaque Poblacion Conference SVP Bok Munoz, played host at the BMW University of Makati Showroom. Gunting Para sa Memorandum of Agreement signing with members of Kabuhayan Meeting other clubs, RCMSL inked commitments to support Tuesday, livelihood programs to teach others hair grooming as Sept. 08, 2009, a business or career in cooperation with Loreal and Manila Peninsula. Joseph Ejercito Estrada Guest Speaker Tuesday, Sept. 08, 2009, Manila Peninsula. Joint meeting with RCMakati led by SVP Felix Amparo and RCM West led by SVP Fern Pena, our club co-hosed the visit of former President Joseph E. Estrada as our guest speaker. The forum was well attended and held in Manila Peninsula Hotel over noon time on September 8, 2009. Pres. Jing Sarao shared the RCMSL’s plans, goals and objectives during the President’s time. Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay introduced Pres. Erap. Rtn. Shelley Lazaro delivered the Invocation.
