This wide shot at the start of the video introduces the audience to get an image of the scenery around and equipment and props involved throughout the rest of the video.
This shows an extreme close-up to the artist who is featured in the video which gives the audience an idea and impression of what the video could be about related to the lyrics sung. It is conventional for the main artist to feature the most throughout the music video.
This is another wide shot but also with a mid shot within it as it shows Olly directly in the middle, to show he is the main artist and most featured in the video. There is a rule of thirds shown where the ice cream van shown at the very start is towards the left hand side half out of shot. Olly is then placed in the middle as he is the one most focussed on and towards the right hand side is just the right hand side.
The camera has used a mid-shot on him from the top of his head to roughly the top of his stomach. It helps if there are a different variety of shots and positions of the camera as it portrays to the audience of what the music video is and gives an idea of who the video is aimed at. Although, the location in the background is blurry and potentially out of focus from the main subject of the video, it is clear to the audience where the video is shot.
For this part of the video, the camera is at a slightly different angle situated more towards the ground looking up towards the main person. This insinuates to the audience what that specific part of the video is about. The colours used are quite dull especially on Olly apart from the trees in the background which are obviously stereotypically green. The grey/dullness of his clothing which he's wearing gives you the impression that he's not the type of person who is really out there and extravagant with what he wears, likes to keep minimal and not stand out from the crowd.
This shot is the opposite from the previous one, with the camera looking down on the main character of the video which gives you a different impression of the person and what the video is about. The colours in this shot are all fairly similar not so dull but all grey and black colours. However, the light helps to create more of a calming atmosphere and not so heavy if it was dark and all black colours.
An over the shoulder shot is used in this to create a sense of what he is feeling; for example, when he’s looking back at photographs etc. It also gives us a more clearer view of what the video could be about; relationships and what he’s possibly been through in the past with girls.
This shot helps to gives us more of an idea of what the music video is about. A two-shot is used to help show that he is a ladies man and gives us more of an insight of his relationships and his past with them. For example, how they both look back and smile at him. The colours used on both women suggest to the audience that they either go to a further educated school/college/university or they both work together in the same job/business as they are both wearing exactly the same outfits. the outfits are a red colour which springs an assumption on to the audience that they could be seductive women as the colour red helps to identify this.
A couple of shots have been shown here at the same time to help the audience get a better insight of what’s happening throughout. A wide and two-shot have been used, it creates a sense of passion and feelings in which the main character/singer in the video has for the woman walking by. The way he’s leaning across two barriers towards her as she walks past suggests that he is showing off and wants to make sure the woman has seen him. The woman walks by, sees him, stops and smiles but whilst looking back at him she starts to walk off.
In the background of this shot is shows a building which looks almost like a church or some type of registry office with the types of windows located on the walls around the building. This links with the idea mentioned previously about him being more of a ladies man and attracting the women as they walk by. It links well with the idea of the building being a church or something as it gives off the idea of marriage and further more serious relationships.
This shot in the video shows an extreme close-up of a woman's’ face, possibly who the song could be about or influenced by/from. The use of this close-up as mentioned briefly before widens the idea of which the audience may be thinking and makes them think more about what the video is about and who its about. The use of colours in this shot gives off the impression that Olly could possibly be dreaming about a girl because the colours are bright and very light. The light coming in from the sun or sky in the background helps with this as it blocks out the rest of the background and any dull light, which makes it easier to focus on the main image in the foreground and also helps with the idea that he could be dreaming because its almost as if there is a thin white haze around the image of the woman's face.
Throughout this music video is shows various shots in between the main ones with the same woman walking by him but in different clothing, so pretending to be in a different job and acting like a completely different person all together. When she walks past in each shot acting like someone else the camera zooms in on a mid-shot of her each time to focus solely on the person rather than what’s going on in the background with everything else.
This shot shows that the singer/main subject of the video is more or less asleep and not focussing on what’s going on around him and outside his vehicle, for instance when the police officer is knocking on his window, with an over-the-shoulder shot of her doing so and him just sitting there asleep.
This next shot shortly after the previous shows Olly waking up due to the noise of the officer knocking on the window. Linking back to a comment made earlier for a different shot, when it spoke about him dreaming of the woman due to the amount of light let into the shot making it seem like he was dreaming. A close-up is used to show this also.
This was the last major shot of the music video, showing an establishing shot of where Olly was based mostly throughout the video, in the ice cream van parked up by the side of a river. The colours help to show that it was a dull/wet and rainy day, which could’ve been partly why there was only the one woman featured throughout the whole video pretending to do several jobs.
