2. 2. Directions• Find the two points on the map that you want to travel from and to.• Draw the compass direction at the start point, and indicate the North direction.• Measure direction to go to the finish point and get the direction

4. 4. Measuring Distances Using string… Step 1 Step 1 •Take a length of string – its best to take one longer than you think youll need – and place one end on your starting point.
5. 5. Measuring Distances Using string… Step 2 Step 2 •Now carefully lay the string along the road or path you know youre going to use, following the curves as closely as you can. When you reach your finishing point, mark it on your string with a pen
6. 6. Measuring Distances Using string… Step 3 Step 3 •Now that you have your distance from the map, you can straighten out your string and place it against the scale bar to find out how far you will actually be travelling.
7. 7. Measuring Distances Using paper.. Step 1Step 1•Every time the route disappearsor moves away from the straightedge of your paper, make a smallmark on the edge and pivot thepaper so the edge is back oncourse.

Step 2 & 3Step 2•Repeat this process until you reachyour destination.Step 3•You should be left with a series ofmarks along the edge of your paper.You can now place the sheet againstthe scale bar on your map/ ruler.•The last mark you made will tell youthe real distance you need to travel.
