  1. 1. COMMISSARY- Scholarships for Military Children, With Feb. 22 deadline, there’s still time toapply! The Scholarships for Military Children Program awards $1,500 scholarships tostudents from military families. Eligibility requirements, application forms and otherinformation about the scholarships can be found at www.militaryscholar.org . This year’sapplicants must submit an essay and applications must be turned in to a commissary byclose of business Feb. 22. The scholarship program is administered by Fisher HouseFoundation, a nonprofit organization that providesassistance to service members and their families.FORT RILEY COMBINED SCHOLARSHIP - Undergraduate college and vocational schoolscholarships are offered to Fort Riley affiliated seniors, current college/vocational students,and spouses of active, retired, or deceased military member(s). Applications can accessedonline at www.riley.army.mil, local high school liaisons, and Junction City and ManhattanMilitary Affairs councils.   3. 3. If you would like to keep yourself schooled in the Kansas weather every year, theNational Weather Service in Topeka presents spotter talks which are open to thegeneral public. Presentations are typically around 90 minutes long, and are given bya meteorologist from our office. Spotter training will focus on storm structure andaccurate identification of important cloud features associated with supercell andsquall line thunderstorms.
