Emily Butcher
Twitter Assignment
The first person I followed was Tom Altepeter, @tomaltepeter. I followed him because
when watching the video, it said he was passionate about interracial and social justice. I feel as if
I have similar views as Mr. Altepeter. His tweets often were about sports which grabs my
attention. The links he would post were actually really interesting. He spoke a lot against
violence. That is something I really admire because I am definitely against any sort of violence. I
will be continuing to follow him even though this class is over. I enjoyed his views.
The second person I followed was Kyle Pace, @kylepace. I followed him because I do
not know an awful lot about technology, and he was one of the ones who seemed to know a lot
about technology and incorporating it into the teaching environment. I think I got some good
ideas of uses for technology for when I’m actually teaching. I think Mr. Pace’s tweets can really
help me out.
The third person I followed was Josh Stumpenhorst, @stumpteacher. I was intrigued to
follow him because it said he was an expert in making videos. Making videos was always one of
my favorite parts of assignments. If I can become better at making videos, they will come more
in handy for assignments when I am teaching. Mr. Stumpenhorst gives great advice towards
videos that I know I will definitely use in my own classroom.
The fourth person I followed was Shannon Smith, @shannoninottowa. I was interested in
following her because of her positive thinking. I think too many times teachers are not
encouraging enough to students. I believe that students respond better to positive feedback. I
know sometimes teachers get in bad moods, and it is hard to always be positive, but Mrs. Smith
gives good advice on how to keep things positive and encouraging. I admire that, and I want to
incorporate that into my classroom one day.
The fifth person I followed was Michael Zimmer, @mzimmer557. He was another one of
the people who seemed to have a good idea on technology. His slide said he has almost a
limitless amount of ideas. His creativity gave me more ideas as well. I learned from him that
there are a lot more ways to involve technology in the classroom that a lot of teachers have no
idea about. Since technology keeps becoming an even bigger part of upcoming generations, it is
so important that the children are using technology regularly.
