  2. 2. 1 st Inning : Always be Prepared for Job Interviews <ul><li>Before going into a job interview, research the company, dress professional, and be confident in yourself. </li></ul>Remember to take your hat off and use a firm handshake!
  3. 3. 2 nd Inning : Social Networking is key! <ul><li>Whether it be Twitter, PROpenMic, Wordpress blogs, or Facebook, I have learned that they are all important in keeping up with what’s going on in the PR world and connecting with PR professionals. </li></ul>
  4. 4. 3 rd Inning : Press Releases are Crucial <ul><li>As a PR professional, I will have to learn how to write a great press release. </li></ul><ul><li>It must be ready to be published as written (and I usually won’t get credit for it!) </li></ul>
  5. 5. 4 th Inning : The Process of PR is a RACE <ul><li>Research : When you define the problem </li></ul><ul><li>Action: What you do about the problem </li></ul><ul><li>Communication: How do you tell the public about it? </li></ul><ul><li>Evaluation: Did you reach your audience and was it effective? </li></ul>

  8. 8. 7 th Inning (stretch): Make Connections <ul><li>Go to career fairs and meet with PR pros. </li></ul><ul><li>Make sure to collect business cards and make a good impression. </li></ul><ul><li>Try to get your resume reviewed, or possibly even give the PR pro a copy. </li></ul>
  9. 9. 8 th Inning: Remember Etiquette <ul><li>As PR professionals we are expected to do, say, and write all the right things. </li></ul><ul><li>Always write thank-you letters, they will show your professionalism. </li></ul>
  10. 10. 9 th Inning: Become a Member of Groups <ul><li>Become a member of: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>PRSSA (Public Relations Students Society of America) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>PBEO (Professional Baseball Employment Opportunities) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>COSIDA( College Sports Information Directors Association) </li></ul></ul>
