2. Introduction
• Currently serving in the corporate headquarters of Verizon
Communications, Emblez Longoria focuses on security issues as a
senior consultant. Emblez Longoria also maintains professional ties
with Nine Lives Associates (NLA).
The NLA consists of military, security, and law enforcement experts
who have participated in the Providing Executive Protection
initiative. In seven days with over 100 hours of instruction,
graduates of the program share lessons learned from stressful
situations. The NLA has graduated some 3,000 members since its
founding in 1978.
Members who pass the course receive a certification as personal
security specialists from the Executive Protection Institute.

3. Nine Lives Associates
• Participants learn not only field skills but receive
reinforcement in work values, such as dedication, honesty,
and honor.
In addition to certification, NLA members can communicate
via an online discussion. This exclusive message board
informs members of job postings, publishes a newsletter
and offers networking opportunities. They can also take
advantage of conferences, further training opportunities,
and locate part-time positions.
Members also receive a distinctive black cat lapel pin. This
pin identifies the wearer as one who practices the highest
standards of professionalism.
