 Board-certified security consultant Emblez Longoria
has committed extensive time to studying the various
aspects of executive and personal protection. When
he has an opportunity to relax, Emblez Longoria
enjoys partaking in a variety outdoor activities, such
as hiking and fishing. For any outdoorsman, finding
food in the wild stands as one of the most important
factors for survival. However, foraging is also likely to
kill a misinformed person. Learning which plants are
edible and which are not can be challenging, but
those spending time in the wilderness should at
minimum know the common characteristics of
poisonous plants.
 A plant is probably poisonous if:
1) It smells of almonds, especially its leaves and
stems.
2) Its sap is discolored or milky.
3) It contains pink or purple grain heads.
4) It is covered in spines or fine hairs.
5) Its pods contain beans or seeds.
Not all plants with these features will be poisonous.
If, however, you are unsure of what type of growth
you have come across, keeping this information in
mind will prevent you from taking a dangerous
chance and eating a potentially poisonous plant.
