Security Awareness Standard

2. Introduction
 Emblez Longoria is a retired law enforcement officer who
is currently a senior security consultant at Verizon
Communications. Emblez Longoria obtained his Certified
Protection Professional (CPP) from ASIS International.
ASIS International is headquartered in Alexandria,
Virginia. It is one of the leading security societies in the
world. The organization aims to elevate the security
profession by creating materials and educational
programs, as well as holding exhibits and seminars. ASIS
also performs an advocacy role for the security
profession to other stakeholders in society.
It was announced in early March 2016 that ASIS
International will collaborate with ISACA to develop a
Security Awareness American National Standard. ISACA
is prominent information, cyber, and physical security
professional association.

3. ASIS International
 Because the world has become more
interconnected, security issues far surpass physical
security. Protecting information and transactions is
becoming a major issue. Thus, a holistic approach
must be used to address the current environment
where there is now a convergence of cyber,
information, and physical security needs.
Developing a security standard by combining
industry best practices is intended to help to address
current issues regarding asset protection.
