Where might a trailer be seen? How will different formats affect the viewing of the trailer?

 1. 1. Where might the trailer be seen?
2. 2. CINEMA
Movie trailers started off in the cinema after the actual film has finished. This however wasn’t appropriate because people left straight after the film has finished. Therefore film trailers were moved to before the film, but the name has stuck.
3. 3. VHS tapes
Film trailers that were on VHS tapes would play before the actual film has started. However, the few that played the trailers after the film has finished, would have a warning, remind the viewer to “Stay tuned after the feature for more previews.”
4. 4. DVD & Blue-Ray
Nowadays, the DVD and Blue-Ray have taken over the VHS tapes and technology has evolved greatly. Now, film trailers are mostly considered to be a “special feature” which can be played whenever the viewer chooses to, before, during or after the film.
