7. 7. misbelief
toxic faith
Therefore . . .
The terms “toxic faith” and “misbelief” are synonymous.
misbelief
8. 8. The Origins of Toxic Faith
No one starts out to have toxic faith.
No one starts out to hold falsehoods as truth.
So how does this happen?
misbelief
toxic faith
13. 13. Can be disastrous!
Proverbs 14:12
“There is a way that seems right
to a man, but in the end it leads to death.”
14. 14. Jesus said:
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Mt 7:13:-14
15. 15. So what we believe really matters:
The content of faith is important!
1Cor 15:1 Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you ... that Christ died for our sins ... 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day….
16. 16. So what we believe really matters:
The content of faith is important!
15:2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
Believing the wrong message is fatal!
17. 17. The content of faith is important!
Gal 1:6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-- 7 which is really no gospel atall. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again…
Paul calls it:
“different”
“no gospel”
“perverted”
“other gospel”
21. 21. Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinks within himself so he is.”
Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinketh in his heart,so is he.”
22. 22. We become what we tell ourselves!
What we “tell ourselves” is called “self-talk.”
23. 23. When we tell ourselves untrue things
About ourselves we eventually:
persuade ourselves they
are so
act upon them
become what we think
/believe
