  2. 2. Teaching Speaking: <ul><li>Needs a lot of practice and time </li></ul><ul><li>Inside and outside of class </li></ul><ul><li>Help students gain confidence about their speaking skills and ideas </li></ul><ul><li>Prepare students to speak on various issues </li></ul>
  3. 3. Problems <ul><li>Shy students that do not speak in class – ''stage fright'' </li></ul><ul><li>Lack of confidence </li></ul><ul><li>Students sometimes cannot express themselves – 'have nothing to say' </li></ul><ul><li>Not interesting topics </li></ul><ul><li>Use of L1 </li></ul>

Practicing Speaking via Recording <ul><li>You can ask students Record themselves to: </li></ul><ul><li>Make a presentation on various topics (business, friendship, family, personality etc) </li></ul><ul><li>Interview each other for topics of their selections eg. Preferences, breaking news etc </li></ul>
  5. 5. Web Tool: Knovio.com <ul><li>Presentation with your voice and image </li></ul><ul><li>Record yourself over each slide </li></ul>

  7. 7. Practice Speaking via Talking online <ul><li>Ask students to skype with you (the teacher) </li></ul><ul><li>Ask students skype each other on regular basis </li></ul><ul><li>Every time you arrange a skype call you must prepare a worksheet (speaking with intention) </li></ul>
  8. 8. Benefits <ul><li>Students: </li></ul><ul><li>Speak with another more fluent speaker (teacher) </li></ul><ul><li>Speak with speakers of the same level (co-students) and do some peer review </li></ul><ul><li>Speak spontaneously and practice everyday talk </li></ul>
