  1. 1. Sir Padampat Singhania Education Centre Kamla Nagar Kanpur
  2. 2. Sir Padampat Singhania Education Centre situated in the heart of Kanpur, the buzzing industrial city of Uttar – Pradesh, India. Mills, Factories, Industrial Units have been a part of this city since long. It is in dire need of landscaping and development of green zones for its sustainability. What could be better than educating our children about environment, conservation, recycling, renewability and reuse within a clean - green environment.
  3. 3. The Botanical garden houses more than 2000 genera of Algae, Fungi, Bryophytes, Pteridophytes, Gymnosperms and Angiosperms which are shown to the students to clarify the concept of plant modification and adaption, plant – to- plant interaction , phytoevolution ,taxonomy, biodiversity, eco conservation ,waste-land management, different methods of plant reproduction etc. This garden study develops aesthetic sense in the students, and inculcates love for plants and emphasizes the need to conserve the various plant species.
  4. 4. The school also has an array of gardens developed on various themes to provide enormous facility of academic research and development and also serve as live teaching aids for our students. Buddha Vatika has trees bearing immense significance to the life of Gautam Buddha. Panch Pallav highlights five trees of vedic importance, collectively constitute the vedic kalash. Gandh Pallav bears trees with aromatic properties in accordance to mythological reference. Tantra Pallav has five trees of medicinal importance with Indian origin and have the ability to convert a waste land into fertile.
  5. 5.  As a part of the green campus initiative, our school already has trees like Rudraksha, Kalpvriksha, Neem, Peepal, Palash, Gular, Banyan, Khus – Khus etc. and we focus on planting more trees.  Composting of organic and biodegradable waste and convert it to manure for use as fertilizer for landscaping and beautification of the school campus.  Airy classes with large windows and ventilators to provide adequate sunlight and fresh air to significantly cut the electrical consumption.  The playfields have a grassy turf to prevent and conserve the top soil. Lawns have been developed on unbuilt regions to further stop erosion and sedimentation.
  6. 6.  Focus on conservation and improvement of land from waste to fertile with the use of bio fertilizers.  Arrangement of trees according to their evolutionary significance and protecting them against decay and damage by enlightening students and making them aware of nature conservation.  Facility of separate pipelines for grey and black water to be reused for the purpose of irrigation of lawns.  Adequate parking space away from the central campus with stress on using bicycles to commute for students to curb CO2 emissions.  Zero exposure to tobacco and complete prohibition on smoking within and about hundred meters off the school campus.
  7. 7. The beautiful flowers appear to say that They’ve been thinking of you while they sway With a beautiful message of ‘Having a nice day’ FLOWERS WELCOMINGTHEVISITORS TO OUR SCHOOL CAMPUS

  21. 21. Sir Padampat Singhania Education Centre is the first among the few schools across the country to be licensed by CBSE for teaching biotechnology and it has achieved excellence . The school has fully operational biotechnology lab equipped with centrifugation, pathological diagnosis, biochemical analysis, incubation, distillation, protein and DNA separation among other facilities has been well appreciated by educationists and scientists.
  22. 22. Among them Dr.P. Pushpangadan, Director National Botanical Research Institute and winner of the Equator Initiative Prize who described his visit to the our school was an "exhilarating experience".
  23. 23. Biodiversity Museum of Taxonomy The Biodiversity Museum of Taxonomy consists of various specimens that have been prepared from the material available in the botanical garden. It preserves various plant specimens so that the different plant phenomena – types of inflorescence, symbiosis, hetrophylly, types of plant diseases, abnorm- secondary growth, variegation etc. can be studied at any time throughout the year.
  24. 24. In the practical classes the students conduct basic biochemical techniques like sterilization, preparation of buffers and media, determination of pH, separation of proteins by chromatography protein analysis and DNA and protein electrophoresis and various experiments in BIOINFORMATICS. Bud sorting by centrifugation, cell counting Cell and tissue culture and genetic engineering are very important aspects of biotechnology, therefore the structure, component, division, growth and development of cell, various cellular techniques(microscopy, cell sorting, cell fraction , cell growth determination)genetics, genome function and genetic techniques along with cell variability also being taught.

  38. 38. Getting children outside so they can experience the natural world is a major goal of our school’s curriculum. ...When children create outside, they are surrounded by nature, experiencing the woodsy smells, natural breezes, sunshine, and profound beauty all around them. Not often enough would you cross paths with an organization as dedicated and genuine to adopting a Going Green attitude and maintaining a Green Campus. THANKYOU
