California: Oppose AB 2147 Decriminalizing Drunk DrivingDecriminalizing drunk driving: a means of effectivepunishment. Punishment for drunk drivers is a sentence of 2 years of probation or weekends in jail. Licenses may be taken for only 90 days not for drunk driving but for the administrative offense of having been in charge of a motor vehicle wisth a BAC exceeding a tolerated limit. License is often taken for a longer period (such as a year) if a person suspected of drunk driving refuses to cooperate in a chemical test for alcohol.

BenefitsAfter just 5 years of campaigning: 17 states have mandatory all-offender ignition interlock laws, up from only 1 state. All 50 states now have some form of ignition interlock law, up from 45. Advanced in-vehicle alcohol detection technology is no longer just a concept, now in its second phase of development.
