SMT Poke-In Lighting Connector Overview <ul><li>The Tyco SMT Poke-In LED lighting connector is a low profile, PCB mount connector specifically designed for LED lighting applications </li></ul><ul><li>Available in SMT tape & reel packages </li></ul><ul><li>The connector works with 18 AWG solid, stranded or fused; 20 AWG solid or fused; and 22 AWG solid wire </li></ul><ul><li>It operates at 5A, 250 VAC/VDC. </li></ul>

Wire Selection and Preparation <ul><li>If stranded wire is used, it must be 16 strands; if prebond wire is used, the strand count must be 16 strands or less </li></ul><ul><li>When preparing stranded wire, it is recommended not to twist strands after stripping the insulation. The stranded wire will insert best if the strands are straight (or slightly twisted) as the wire is manufactured. </li></ul>

Wire Termination <ul><li>All wires must be pushed firmly inside the contact wire openings. </li></ul><ul><li>The wires must be fully inserted so that the wire insulation is inserted into and surrounded by the end of the housing. </li></ul><ul><li>The required wire termination depth is achieved when the wire, with insulation stripped to 7.00 ± 1.00 mm, has bottomed in the connector housing. </li></ul>
  10. 10. Strain Relief <ul><li>When the wire/connector interface is expected to be exposed to a force greater than 22 N [5.0 lbs], an external strain relief is recommended. </li></ul><ul><li>The suggested strain relief method is to use a cable tie and anchor. </li></ul>
