  2. 2. This eBook guides you through the steps needed to create up a WordPress blog. It’s really easy to get your own blog up and running. It should take you no more then 10 minutes. Open up http://wordpress.com/ in your web browser Click on the ‘Get Started’ Button
  3. 3. The beginner’s guide to creating a WordPress blog 1 Fill in a valid email address, a user name (can be anything you like). Then choose a strong password, with a mix of upper and lower case characters. The WordPress password generator gives you very long passwords so try the free online Strong Password Generator tool. Make sure to keep a note of your password as you will need it to log in to your blog. Finally choose the name you would like to give your blog. You should take some time to consider this, but you will have the opportunity to change it later.
  4. 4. The beginner’s guide to creating a WordPress blog 2 The basic WordPress blog is free but WordPress also offers you the opportunity to upgrade to a Premium or Business account for a fee. For a beginner’s blog there is no need so choose the free option and click create blog. Enter the title for your blog and a ‘Tagline’ if you want one. Click into the This WordPress.com site is the bee's knees field and fill in your tagline. If you don’t want to use one, just delete it and leave the field blank. Then select what language you want to use, the default is English. When you are finished click Next Step.
  5. 5. The beginner’s guide to creating a WordPress blog 3 You will then be given the option to choose a theme for your blog. This theme will shape the way your blog looks, but you can always change it later. For the moment just select the default theme Twenty Twelve by clicking on it. You are given the option to customize your theme, but you can do this once your blog is set up. For the moment just click Next Step.
  6. 6. The beginner’s guide to creating a WordPress blog 4 WordPress gives you the option to automatically share your posts to your Twitter or Facebook feeds. I don’t recommend this, as you may not want to share every post you make or might want to edit what you share. You can skip this step and click on Next Step. You are then ready to create your first blog post. Don’t worry you can make changes before you actually publish it. Click on the Text box.
  7. 7. The beginner’s guide to creating a WordPress blog 5 Fill out the title of your blog post. And then click in the main field to type your post title. Remember you will have the opportunity to edit this before you publish it. Click Publish your post After you click Publish you post you will be prompted to confirm your email address. Login to the email account you entered at the beginning and click on the Confirm email address button. You will then be taken back to blog, ready to post.
